Sustainability
The
power to make a difference is on your plate. Heal the earth with every meal. By exercising the power of your fork
(or chopsticks).
The
food choices you make today and everyday determine, to a considerable extent, the condition of our world.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Namasté Café is
to promote prevention and healing through organic juicing and health foods. We are a unique and vital resource based
on the understanding that there is, in fact, a void in our community. We plan to fill this void not only with our highly
regarded healing juices and health foods, but also through education and encouragement. VISION
The Namasté Café will help to support and build upon the membership and customer base
of the George Street Co-op, an invaluable resource for over three decades. We will utilize our lounge and stage area
in order to provide a voice for the numerous underground poets in our area as well as DJ’s and acoustic music performers.
The Namasté Café will also incorporate a host of educational documentaries, independent films, lectures, and
surprise guest speakers, as well as a variety of nutrition and health food classes and demos ranging from Chakra Mantra healing
foods, Ayurveda, Raw foods, Whole Foods, and Juicing. A variety of New York City Radio programs will be featured daily
during our hours of operation starting with Pacifica’s Democracy Now program with Amy Goodman, which will be a staple
for our guest in the A.M. hours, followed at noon with our personal favorite broadcast of the highly acclaimed inspiring,
informative and empowering Gary Null Show, which is now aired on WNYE. The Namasté Café will also network
to a variety of community organizations and Rutgers University affiliates including the Athletic Department, WRSU radio and
our neighboring art school, Mason Gross. In fact, we plan on providing individual students of Mason Gross with the opportunity
to display their art inside the Café for brief intervals of time throughout the year. Our juice bar will be interactive
with a sense of community and kinship. We want to spread love and discuss ways in which we can enhance the way we treat
ourselves, while discovering ways in which we can make profound and positive changes about the way we treat each other
and the planet we live on. The way we view the earth, our MOTHER, and uncovering the roots of our domination of nature
and each other, is often a topic explored at the juice bar. Our theme is the yogi lifestyle. We want to create a social
environment and club-like atmosphere free of cigarettes and alcohol, featuring an eclectic music selection with drum circles
and chanting, on-site massage therapist, as well as yoga and meditation classes, all with a very inspiring ambiance inside
the café.
